I’m feeling a little overwhelmed today. I went to hear an author speak, and it was one of the most inspiring talks I’d ever heard. The book is called “Bite of the Mango,” and is the true story of Mariatu Kamara, a girl born in Sierra Leone. She was raised in a war over diamonds, one that cost her both her innocence as a child and her hands – after which she was left for dead. You can find out more about this book here.

The words that inspired me the most was when she said, “God took away my hands, so I could touch people with my heart.”

Believe me. She has.
